Hello, my name is Chip Van Alstyne.  I am an Analytic Client Architect with IBM's Analytics business unit.  I have worked as a Software Sales Architect for IBM since 2015.  I am currently working in the Industrial sector supporting our "key" accounts.  These are major, Fortune 50, companies that are long-time customers of IBM.  Prior to this role, I worked on our Analytic portfolio for smaller Industrial accounts.  I have also worked as a Watson Architect for Artificial Intelligence and Content Analytics.  Prior to becoming an Architect, I joined IBM as a Cognos Technical Seller.  I began my sales career as a Sales Engineer for Optio Software and Information Builders.  I have held roles in Development, Training, Project Management and Implementation since moving to Atlanta in 1994.

I hold a Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Southern Mississippi in Computer Science and Statistics and was a member of the Association for Computing Machinery as well as a Resident Assistant.

Outside of IBM, I am a member of the Technology Association of Georgia, am currently serving as Vice President and Media Committee Chairman for the Robert Forsyth Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution.  I am also a member of the Holland Society of New York.  I attend St Columba's Episcopal Church in Johns Creek, GA and am a member of their men's group and breakfast teams.  I am also an Assistant Scout Master for Troop 143 (John's Creek UMC).  In this role, I am a Patrol Coach for the Liberty Bells patrol, a Merit Badge Counselor for multiple merit badges, mentor the boys on their leadership and advancement and will be a Crew Advisor for our trip to Philmont in the Summer of 2019.  I have been married to JoAnn since 2000 and we have 3 children.  We live in Cumming, GA and enjoy hanging out with our neighbors, cheering for the SFHS Marching Band and Girl's Lacrosse teams as well as attending Irish Dance competitions throughout the SouthEast.
